Senior Technical Game Designer
$100,000 to $120,000 CAD per yearDogfish is looking for a Senior Technical Game Designer to help us build a single-player third person project in Unreal Engine 5. You will design and turn gameplay ideas into polished, playable systems.
What you'll do
- Design, prototype, and implement gameplay systems and mechanics in Unreal Engine 5, primarily using Blueprints
- Own features from concept through iteration to ship quality, collaborating closely with designers, artists, and engineers
- Build tools and workflows that empower the design team to iterate quickly
- Champion best practices for Blueprint architecture, performance, and maintainability
- Playtest, tune, and refine third person gameplay until it feels great
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of game design or technical design experience, with at least one shipped title or equivalent project experience
- Deep expertise with Unreal Engine 5 and Blueprint scripting
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing third person gameplay (camera, character movement, combat, or similar systems)
- Experience with UI/UX implementation, including widget Blueprints
- Strong sense of game feel and the technical skills to achieve it
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working in a remote team
Bonus points
- C++ proficiency in Unreal Engine (a huge plus, but not a requirement)
- Experience developing for consoles
What we offer
- Salary of $100,000 to $120,000 CAD per year, with a benefits package for employees based in British Columbia
